TK Studio Excellence Scholarship

Each year, TK Studio offers “The Excellence Scholarship”. The Scholarship provides awards towards tuition for the Two Year Acting Program for 1st Year and 2nd Year artists of color. For more details, see our Excellence Scholarship Information Sheet.

The Excellence Scholarship aims to provide an opportunity to artists of color who are passionate about pursuing acting training and are committed to excellence. The Scholarship was established through the generosity of a recent graduate of color who believes in the richness of the work and the mission of TKS, and who wishes to remain anonymous. The fund is also supported by the Studio.

Details + Prerequisites:

Applicants need not have previous acting training or experience. Applicants should be committed to training at TK Studio for two years, starting in the Fall or in January. Applicants should have the ability to relocate to NYC. Scholarship is open to applicants 18 years and older.

In order to qualify for the Acting Scholarship award, recipients must have been offered admission into the Two Year Conservatory Program at Terry Knickerbocker Studio. To Apply, the student must complete the application form, an interview, and submit a one page personal statement addressing the following question:

Why do you want to train as an actor, and what does it mean to you to be an artist of color who is passionate and committed to excellence?

“I feel so grateful that an artist of color will have the opportunity to work with caring teachers, and at a place that is actually sincere. Our people over the years have been served from the bottom shelf, and so I think it’s great for our people to be able to get top-shelf training. It is a responsibility on all of our parts to make this commitment, and to take on this responsibility.”
