Shakespeare

With over three decades of acting and directing under his belt, Jim Elliott has happily worked on 15 of Shakespeare’s plays. Some of his more memorable acting roles include Petruchio, Hamlet, Romeo, Malvolio and Cassio. He started his directing career with As You Like It, before moving onto critically successful runs of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night.

Current Teaching: Classics at Actor’s Studio Drama School at Pace University, American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Cooper Union. Past Teaching: Fairleigh Dickinson, University of Texas, MIT, Juniata College, University of Tennessee, Norfolk School of the Arts and NY Film Academy. Master class in acting for Taiwan Performing Arts Center in Taipei. Artistic Associate for New York Rep on Stalking the Bogeyman, a critically acclaimed Off-Broadway play. Jim was the Producing Director at Urban Empire, during which time he premiered Jonathan Marc Sherman’s Evolution. He directed the ABC Diversity showcase for two years and directed regularly with the Three Graces Theater Co., including the premiere of Craig Pospisil’s Dissonance which was just published in the Best Short Plays of 2011 by Applause Books. He is the screenwriter, producer and director of the award-nominated Helen at Risk with Didi Conn.

Jim received a BA in English from Williams College and an MFA in Acting from UT-Austin.
