Using traditional Williamson technique, the Summer Movement Program begins to free the actor physically through ensemble movement exercises. The actor begins to sense the possibility that rich, spontaneous contact can happen without pushing, tension or habits getting in the way. The movement component provides a parallel vocabulary and medium for developing the physical side of this very emotionally demanding training. The actor begins to understand how the body responds to (or doesn’t) and participates in (or doesn’t) the sensory stimuli of the imaginary world.
