Nathan Flower

Director of Movement

Nathan has developed physical technique and movement design for actors for over 16 years.  He served as Head of Physical Training at the Maggie Flanigan Studio since 2004, and is now the Director of Movement at Terry Knickerbocker Studio.

He is an Assistant Arts Professor in the Drama Department at the Tisch School of the Arts where he teaches acting technique as well as advanced movement and period style at the Meisner Studio.  The movement training that Nathan has initiated at these studios is a unique synthesis of the great works of June Kemp, Loyd Williamson, Rudolf Laban, and Michael Chekhov as well as original contributions from Nathan’s’ broad experience in physical performance, martial arts and ensemble development.

Nathan is an actor, director, and performer whose recent credits include the Aquila Theatre Co. (Herakles at BAM, A Female Philoctetes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art), the Julia Crockett Group (Tiny Parties at Judson Church and the Center for Performance Research) and the web series “Patience”. Directorial credits include A Few Good Men, The Clean House, Big Love, Top Girls, Angels in America, and The Love of the Nightingale to name just a few.  He lives with his family in Westchester County, NY where he has worked to develop his parenting skills for over a decade.
