Inside the Industry

This professional development class is designed for actors in conservatory training who are ready to learn how to navigate the business side of the industry.

Course Overview

The 15-week course covers self-taping, marketing materials, representation, casting, contracts, and on-set professionalism. Students learn to take ownership of their careers and develop confidence in their personal brand as working actors.

Inside the Industry will prepare actors to:

  • Produce self tapes that stand out from the crowd
  • Navigate tv and film sets like a pro
  • Develop a marketing strategy
  • Have a clear idea of essences and types
  • Start the agent/manager search with confidence

1/29/26 – 5/14/26
Thursdays, 12 PM–3 PM
15 classes
No class on 3/19

Tuition:
$1,750 ($1,650 if enrolled by December 1)
$750 for Complete students taking this as a specialty class ($650 if enrolled by December 1)

Prerequisites:
TKS Students: Current 2nd Years or graduates of the Two Year Conservatory* are eligible.

Non-TKS Students: Trained actors or actors with previous on-camera experience are eligible. You may be asked to submit a self tape/monologue.

*If you’ve taken Career Essentials previously, you’re welcome to take this class for a deeper dive into navigating the industry, but if you are just looking for on-camera practice, we’d recommend our On Camera Lab class.

Meet Your Instructor

Jason MacDonald began his professional career in New York City with stints at LaMama, Circle in the Square, Lincoln Center, and opposite Frank Langella in the Roundabout Theatre Company production of The Tempest.
