The Terry Knickerbocker Studio seeks students who are equally committed to being the best actor they can be, and are willing to do whatever it takes to reach their goals of personal and artistic excellence. On a practical level, this means the committed actor needs to dedicate themselves to serious training.
Our primary curriculum is the Conservatory Essentials program. We strongly believe in the conservatory approach to actor training, which means that students are encouraged to train their entire instrument – body and voice – in addition to their acting classes. You will be competing with actors who went to Yale, Juilliard, and NYU – and conservatory training is the model that gives these actors their edge.
Special consideration may be given to students who are unable to accommodate the full curriculum of the Conservatory Essentials program. Depending on the situation, students may receive permission to participate in the Acting Foundation program. The Acting Foundation program constitutes enrollment in Meisner Acting I and Theatre History only, with the option of adding a single supplementary class; Movement or Voice & Speech.
The first year class enrolls twice a year – in September and January. The second year class enrolls every September.
