This visa is specifically available for those enrolled in our Two Year Conservatory Complete program or 6-week Complete Summer Intensive program. Submit an Application
After your conversation, it’s time to submit your application! Share your story, experiences, and aspirations by completing the application. Answer a few questions, and upload your headshot and resume. We’re excited to learn more about you and your artistic journey!
Complete an Enrollment Interview
The next step is to schedule and complete your enrollment interview. This allows us to delve deeper into your artistic vision and aspirations. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions and explore how Terry Knickerbocker Studio can support your growth as an artist.
Admissions Notification & Enrollment Contract
After your interview, you’ll receive your admissions notification. If accepted, we’ll provide you with an enrollment contract outlining the details of your journey at Terry Knickerbocker Studio. Review and sign the contract to secure your spot.
Pay The Deposit
To finalize your enrollment, pay the deposit within 7 days of receiving your enrollment contract. This secures your place in our program and allows you to officially begin your transformative journey at Terry Knickerbocker Studio.
Begin the Visa Application Process
After your acceptance to Terry Knickerbocker Studio, you’ll need to submit financial documentation, like a bank statement, to prove you can cover tuition and living expenses in New York City. Once verified, we will issue your Form I-20, essential for your visa application as it records your information in SEVIS. With your Form I-20, schedule a visa appointment at your local consulate or embassy. Ensure you have financial support ready, as it is vital for your international student journey.

What is the Meisner Technique?
The Meisner Technique is a highly regarded acting method developed by Sanford Meisner. It focuses on truthful and spontaneous acting, emphasizing the actor’s connection with their scene partner.
Can TK Studio help me become a student in NYC?
Terry Knickerbocker Studio is authorized under federal law to welcome nonimmigrant students to study here on an M-1 Visa in our full-time Two-Year Conservatory Complete and 6-week Complete Summer Intensive programs.
We invite all passionate individuals committed to becoming the best actors they can be, regardless of their prior acting experience. To be considered you must complete the application process.
Do I need to be a proficient English speaker?
Yes, all students must be proficient in spoken and written English to participate in the program. The Studio reserves the right to request that applicants take the TOEFL to demonstrate their proficiency.
Is this a full time program?
Yes. Nonimmigrant international students are required to commit to 18–23 hours of class time each week, which includes outside rehearsals between classes. This commitment is essential for the program. TK Studio has a designated set of required classes that all SEVIS students must complete to meet these hour requirements.
Will I receive a degree?
No. Like many acting studios, Terry Knickerbocker Studio is not an accredited degree-granting institution. However we do award a Certificate of Completion to all graduates upon finishing their program.
Does TK Studio provide housing for international students?
No. TK Studio does not offer on-campus housing for students, but we are happy to provide information on housing resources upon request.
How long is an M-1 visa valid?
The M-1 visa is valid for one academic year of study. If you are invited to continue into the second year of training, you will need to repeat the process to obtain a new M-1 visa between your first and second years.
