How to Apply to TKS

At Terry Knickerbocker Studio, our application process is straightforward and focused on understanding your artistic aspirations. Below, you’ll find a simple step-by-step guide to help you navigate your journey with ease. Let’s get started!
Step 1

Book a Conversation with the Director of Admissions and Enrollment

This one-on-one chat is an opportunity to discuss your goals, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into our programs. We’re here to help you determine if Terry Knickerbocker Studio is the right fit for you. Book your conversation today!

Step 2

Submit an Application

After your conversation, it’s time to submit your application! Share your story, experiences, and aspirations by completing the form, answering a few questions, and uploading your headshot and resume. We’re excited to learn more about you and your artistic journey!

Step 3

Complete an Enrollment Interview

The next step is to schedule and complete your enrollment interview. This allows us to delve deeper into your artistic vision and aspirations. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions and explore how Terry Knickerbocker Studio can support your growth as an artist.

Step 4

Admissions Notification & Enrollment Contract

After your interview, you’ll receive your admissions notification. If accepted, we’ll provide you with an enrollment contract outlining the details of your journey at Terry Knickerbocker Studio. Review and sign the contract to secure your spot.

Step 5

Pay the Deposit

To finalize your enrollment, pay the deposit within 7 days of receiving your enrollment contract. This secures your place in our program and allows you to officially begin your transformative journey at Terry Knickerbocker Studio. *Please note, contract due date may vary the closer it is to program start.

What are the application requirements?

There are only four requirements to apply for a TKS program:

What is the application fee?

There is no application fee to apply to Terry Knickerbocker Studio. We believe in making the application process as accessible as possible, so you can focus on showcasing your passion and potential without any financial barriers.

What are the application deadlines?

We have rolling admissions for all programs at Terry Knickerbocker Studio, meaning you can apply at any time throughout the year. However, please note that enrollment will close once a class begins. To ensure your spot, we recommend applying early and staying informed about the start dates for our programs.

Do I have to have studied Meisner before in order to apply?

No, prior experience with the Meisner technique is not required to apply. At Terry Knickerbocker Studio, we welcome actors of all backgrounds and experience levels. Our programs are designed to help you build a strong foundation in Meisner, regardless of your previous training. If you’re passionate about acting and eager to learn, we encourage you to apply!

Is an audition required?

No, an audition is not required for admission to Terry Knickerbocker Studio. Our application process focuses on understanding your goals and aspirations through conversations and interviews. We believe that every aspiring actor deserves a chance to explore their potential, so we welcome you to apply without a formal audition.

Do you offer financial aid or scholarships?

At TK Studio, we strive to make our classes and programs accessible to artists from all backgrounds. Our tuition reflects careful consideration, aiming to provide high-quality professional training in the Meisner technique that saves you time and money on your journey to a successful acting career.

We offer limited work study opportunities for students with proven financial need, selected based on their positive contributions to our community and commitment to their studies. Additionally, our Excellence Scholarship awards $500 to $2,000 in tuition support for artists of color in the Conservatory Program.

Can I visit the studio before applying?

Yes, you can absolutely visit Terry Knickerbocker Studio in Industry City before applying! We encourage prospective students to explore our space and get a feel for our community. You can attend an open house or book an in person conversation with the Director of Admissions to learn more about our programs.
