Associate Movement Teacher

Assume nothing. For, in assumption, curiosity dies—and with it, discovery.

Mackian Bauman is a movement director, performer, and educator working in theater and television. As a theatermaker, Mackian’s work blends physical composition with clowning and personal anecdote to create vignette-driven mosaics investigating the individual’s relationship to authenticity. His work has been presented at Yale University, NYU, MITU 580, Dixon Place, and Movement Research at Judson Church. He has collaborated with directors Joshua William Gelb, Candis C. Jones and the like. Most recently, Bauman consulted on For All Mankind (Apple TV+). He has been a member of Julia Crockett & Group since 2016 with which he has performed at National Sawdust, 99 Scott, Men’s NYFW (BODE), and elsewhere.

As an educator, Mackian specializes in teaching the Lloyd Williamson Technique and Allen Wayne Work at studios in the NYC and Los Angeles areas. He has been a teacher at the Terry Knickerbocker Studio since 2018.
