Bridgmont work integrates thought, body, and spirit into a dynamic and unified whole, allowing you to communicate truthful action in new and physically dynamic ways. Focused on generating big energy and vocal expression, the class caters to a holistic foundation, emphasizing the marriage of text and speech.
Participants gain invaluable skills, from enhanced stage presence to a profound connection with the larger energies of the play. Rooted in the Meisner precept of genuine connection and internal impulse, the course guides individuals to move beyond subconscious constraints, allowing for the fullest expression of their offerings. At its core, Bridgemont is playing an action—prompting participants to question if they’re really affecting change in the moment. Over the 5-session course we will use exercises to help you develop greater trust in your intuition and freedom of expression.
The Bridgemont Class is a transformative exploration of text, steering away from conventional voice and speech to delve into the physicalization of text, turning words into a tangible reality. It is a joyful experience of personal and artistic liberation. Peter and Barbara Bridgmont were leading figures of the British theatre scene in the second half of the 20th century. They brought together the approaches of Steiner, Laban, and Craig to help liberate the actor from old patterns and conventions. As heads of the Chrysalis Theatre School and Masters of Voice at Shakespeare’s Globe, they trained and worked with significant artists including Mark Rylance, Jonathan Price, Sarah Amankwah among many others. A former Bridgmont student, Benjamin has been using this approach for more than 25 years to help actors realize their personal and creative potential.
