High School Program | Introduction to Movement

Developed precisely to support the young actor in training, this introductory movement class will guide the actor toward an experience of their own physical expansiveness, physio-emotional vulnerability, and clarified artistic presence. Students will travel through a combination of technical exercises, guided group improvisations and feedback sessions. The class sources its curriculum in the Williamson Technique– the foundation of the movement training at TK Studio–while adding other movement-based practices so that the training is always accessible and adaptable for the high school student. Students will work in a reasonable amount of space and will alternate between working on the floor, in a chair, and on their feet. There will be a balance of individual exercises as well as work in small groups and partnerships. The class requires no previous experience or training and will be an inclusive and accessible space for all actors.
