Meisner Acting I

Students expand their self-awareness, sensitivities, and imaginations. The actor learns how to do actor’s homework to reliably produce authentic, personal, imaginative and meaningful behavior in alignment with the given circumstances.

Meisner Acting II

Building on Acting I, students develop techniques that allow them to transform and create authentic character. Students employ opposite points of view, integrate speech and accent work, and implement physical and sensory impediments.

Movement I

Students adopt a physical process that is experienced as an intuitive and organic journey. Students begin to gain physical freedom through the traditional foundation of the Williamson Technique.

Movement II

Building from Movement I, this class focuses on the actors’ sensual experience of the self, of others, and the imaginary world so the actor can act with greater behavioral freedom.

Movement III

This class challenges the actor to imagine the physical instrument as a canvas of performance. Movement III provides the actor with a repeated practice toward expansive creativity, ensemble collaboration, and composition.

Movement IV

Also known as The Performance Project, this class leads the actor through an organic process of sourcing, envisioning, creation, development and performance of original physical choreography.

Voice & Speech I

This class guides actors to experience their voices as thought/feeling impulses infused with breath and vibration, freed through open channels, and amplified through the bodies’ resonators.

Voice & Speech II

In this class, actors continue to develop awareness and freedom as they increase flexibility and variety in their speaking voice in preparation for roles of greater physical, emotional and vocal demand.

Voice & Speech III

This class  focuses on the student’s speech and personal ‘accents’. Participants play with sounds as the building blocks of language and explore vowels and consonants through an active physical engagement with the International Phonetic Alphabet.

Voice & Speech IV

This class focuses on the active use of rhythm, pacing, sounds, and rhetoric to tell a story. Students learn, practice and explore through poetry and end in performance.

Shakespeare

This six-week workshop identifies the tools that every actor needs to demystify and inhabit the meaning, imagery, rhythm and rhyme of Shakespeare in a way that is honestly human and spontaneously active.
